The Associate Engineer is responsible for executing defined coding tasks and ensuring basic code quality.
Code Implementation: Write and modify clean, testable, and efficient code for low-to-medium complexity features and bug fixes, primarily using the required programming language (e.g., Java, Python, JavaScript, C#).
Debugging and Testing: Conduct thorough unit testing on assigned components and participate actively in debugging applications to identify and resolve defects reported by Quality Assurance (QA) or end-users.
Documentation: Assist in creating and maintaining technical documentation, including code comments, design specifications for small features, and developer runbooks.
Version Control: Utilize version control systems (e.g., Git/GitHub/GitLab) effectively for branching, merging, and managing code changes within the team codebase.
Database Interaction: Write basic SQL queries or interact with NoSQL databases to support application functionality, data fetching, and simple data manipulation.
2. Operational & Collaborative Duties
This role requires strong teamwork and adherence to established development processes.
SDLC Participation: Actively participate in all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), with a focus on implementation, testing, and deployment support.
Agile/Scrum: Participate in Agile ceremonies (Daily Standups, Sprint Planning, Retrospectives) and accurately update task status and progress in project management tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps).
Code Review: Participate in and learn from the code review process by providing basic feedback and incorporating feedback from senior developers into their own code.
Troubleshooting & Support: Provide Level 1 (L1) technical support for applications, assisting in diagnosing and escalating production issues as needed.
Requirements Interpretation: Work with senior developers and business analysts to understand technical requirements derived from user stories and functional specifications.
